Dr. Jan Giles

MB ChB, FRCOphth, FRANZCO Consultant Ophthalmologist

Specializing in Oculoplastic, Reconstructive Eyelid & Lacrimal Surgery, Malignant & Non-Malignant Eyelid Lesions, Pterygium Surgery, Diabetic Retinopathy and Glaucoma Management.

Dr Giles qualified as a doctor in 1998 from the University of Sheffield and started his specialist training in ophthalmology in the UK in 1999. He completed two one-year advanced sub-specialty training programs in oculoplastics and medical retina prior to receiving Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK) in 2007 and in 2008, he received Fellowship at the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.

He worked at the Vision Eye Institute, Footscray (Melbourne) for over four years (2008 – 2012), specialising in medical retina and oculoplastics. On his return to the UK in 2013, he worked as a consultant ophthalmologist at Burton Hospitals NHS Trust.

Since 2016, he has worked for independent providers of community ophthalmology (Newmedica, Phoenix Health Solutions and Anglia Community Eye Services) that provide NHS services to patients, usually from GP practices, including two days per week at the Nuneaton RVD service providing anti-VEGF injections.

His special interests are oculoplastics (repairing eyelid malpositions) including reconstructive eyelid surgery after removal of skin cancers, management of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy/maculopathy (DMO) and retinal vein occlusions (RVO) with intravitreal injections and implants and non-surgical glaucoma management (including laser treatment with SLT).
