Dr Juyong Cheong

MBBS, BSC (Hons), FRACS

Dr Ju Yong Cheong is an Australian trained and qualified specialist general surgeon, with advanced training in colorectal surgery. He obtained MBBS, BSc (Hons) from University of New South Wales in 2005.

He underwent general surgical training in Sydney at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Concord Repatriation and General Hospital, and was awarded his Fellowship in Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2016.

He underwent three years of accredited colorectal fellowship training in Australia through the Australia New Zealand Training Board of Colorectal Surgery (ANZTBCRS) of Colorectal Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) at Royal Adelaide Hospital (Adelaide), Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (Sydney) and Prince of Wales Hospital (Sydney).

Following his Australian general and colorectal fellowships, he underwent further training overseas. In 2021, he undertook colorectal fellowship in robotic and laparoscopic surgery at the Korea University Anam Hospital, which is internationally renowned for colorectal robotic surgery. In 2021-2022, he then undertook an additional one-year clinical colorectal fellowship at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, consistently ranked as one of the best hospitals in United States of America.

In 2022, Ju Yong was granted full membership into the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ).

He is also a member of American College of Colorectal Surgeons (ASCRS) since 2021.

Ju Yong has a keen interest in academia, and obtained a Master of Surgery and Doctorate of Philosophy at the University of Sydney for his research in the area of Colorectal surgery.

Outside of work, Ju Yong likes to spend time with his two sons and wife.
